The momentum is real. So is the need to slow down just a little.
I want to say something to the fire signs before I get into any of the specifics.
The last few months have been a lot. Aries had Saturn and Neptune both pile into their sign at the same time back in February, which is the kind of transit that either builds you or breaks you depending on how you meet it. Leo has been in a strange in-between — their ruler Jupiter still in Cancer, not quite home yet, everything feeling slightly off the pace they prefer. And Sagittarius has been doing that thing Sagittarius does when life gets complicated, which is try to philosophy their way through it and occasionally succeed.
May is different. Not dramatically. Not all at once. But something is shifting for all three of you, and by the end of this month you will probably feel it even if you can’t name it yet.
Let me tell you what’s actually happening.
ARIES — Saturn is in your sign and it is asking the question you keep avoiding
Saturn moved into Aries in February and it is staying until April 2028. I want to be honest with you about what that means because I think Aries deserves directness more than comfort.
Saturn in your sign is hard. Saturn is the planet of discipline, structure, and reality checks, and in Aries — a sign that runs on instinct and speed and the belief that if you just move fast enough you can outrun the things you don’t want to deal with — it creates a very specific kind of friction. The friction of being asked to slow down when slowing down is the last thing you want to do. The friction of being asked to build something lasting when your natural mode is to start things and hand them off to future-you.

Neptune is also in Aries right now, which adds a layer of confusion to everything Saturn is demanding. Neptune dissolves clarity. It makes things feel foggy and uncertain. The combination of Saturn asking for structure and Neptune making it hard to see clearly is genuinely disorienting, and if May has felt like you keep trying to get traction and something keeps slipping, that’s what’s happening.
But here is what I actually want to say to Aries about May specifically.
There was a New Moon in Taurus on May 16th. Taurus is the sign right after yours, and a New Moon in Taurus is asking you to plant something slow. Something that grows on a timeline you can’t control. Aries hates this. Aries wants to plant a seed and see results by Thursday. Taurus is asking you to plant something and tend it for months without knowing what it will become yet.
Mars, your ruling planet, moved into Taurus on May 18th. Mars is not comfortable in Taurus. It’s slow there, methodical, a bit frustrated with the pace. But there’s something useful in that discomfort. Mars in Taurus makes you build rather than charge. It makes you finish what you started rather than chase the next thing. For Aries in May, this is the transit asking you to complete something. Not start something new. Complete what you already started, even the parts that got boring.
And the Full Moon in Sagittarius on May 31st is a fire sign Full Moon, which means it’s lighting up the part of your chart that holds your beliefs and your vision of the bigger picture. What do you actually believe about where you’re heading? Not the optimistic version you tell people. The honest version you hold at 3am. That’s what the Full Moon wants to see.
Aries advice for May: stop trying to outrun Saturn. It is faster than you and it has been doing this longer. The question it’s asking you — about what you’re actually building, about whether your pace is courage or avoidance — is a real question worth sitting with. Mars in Taurus is helping you finish things. Let it. And use the Full Moon at the end of the month to get honest about what you’re moving toward and why.
LEO — June is coming and you can already feel the shift starting
Jupiter moves into Leo on June 30th. That is six weeks away. And I swear I can already feel Leo picking up speed.
Jupiter has been in Cancer since June 2025, which means it has been sitting in the sign directly before yours for almost a year. Jupiter in Cancer is warm and protective and emotionally deep, and none of those are words that particularly describe Leo. It has probably felt, for a lot of Leo placements, like the big expansive energy of Jupiter has been available to everyone else in a way it hasn’t quite been available to you.
That is about to change dramatically.

But May is still the before. Jupiter is still in Cancer through the end of June. The Sun moved into Taurus for the beginning of May and enters Gemini on May 20th, which activates your communication and community areas. Venus moved into Gemini on May 14th, which adds social warmth and lightness to that same area. The last ten days of May have genuinely pleasant energy for Leo in terms of connection, conversation, and being seen in small but meaningful ways.
The Full Moon in Sagittarius on May 31st is in your fellow fire sign, which means it lands in the area of your chart connected to learning, adventure, belief and the bigger picture. Leo and Sagittarius understand each other — both are fire, both are generous, both want to live a large life. This Full Moon is asking Leo to look at where they have been thinking too small. Where they have been playing it safe because Jupiter hasn’t arrived yet and they didn’t want to get ahead of themselves.
I want to say something directly to Leo. The waiting period is almost over. I know it has felt like everyone else has been having their moment and yours was delayed. That is not wrong. It has been delayed. But June is not far away and Jupiter in your sign for the next year is going to feel like someone finally turned the volume back up on your life.
May for Leo is about preparation. Not passive waiting. Actual preparation. What do you want to do when the energy arrives? What have you been holding back because the timing wasn’t right? What has been sitting in a drawer waiting for the conditions to improve?
The conditions are about to improve. Get ready.
Leo advice for May: use the Gemini energy of the second half of the month to reconnect with people and conversations that matter to you. Let the Sagittarius Full Moon remind you how big your vision actually is when you’re not shrinking it to fit current circumstances. And spend some real time this month deciding what you’re going to do first when Jupiter comes home in June.
SAGITTARIUS — There is a Full Moon in your sign on May 31st and it is not messing around
I’ll be straight with you. The Sagittarius Full Moon on May 31st is the most significant transit of the month for your sign and I don’t want to bury it at the end of a paragraph.
Full Moons in your own sign happen once a year. They illuminate. They bring things to the surface. They ask you to look at yourself clearly, with all the philosophical distance and perspective you bring to everyone else’s problems, and apply that same clarity to your own life. Sagittarius is very good at seeing the big picture for other people. Slightly less good at doing it for themselves when the picture involves uncomfortable truths.

This Full Moon is going to show you something. It will show up differently for everyone depending on your chart, but the general theme for Sagittarius Full Moons is always the same: are you living in alignment with what you actually believe? Not what you say you believe. Not what you aspire to believe. What you actually, in practice, demonstrate through your choices that you believe.
That’s a hard question. It’s also a Sagittarius question. Your sign is supposed to be the one that cares about truth and meaning and living a life that reflects those things. The Full Moon is calling you back to that.
Earlier in May, Jupiter in Cancer is making a supportive trine to Sagittarius placements. Jupiter is your ruling planet, and even in Cancer, which is not the most natural fit for Jupiterian energy, it is still Jupiter. The trine to your sign means there is genuine support available this month for growth in areas related to home, roots, and emotional foundations. If something in your home life or your sense of inner security needs attention, May has the resources to address it.
Saturn in Aries is making a trine to Sagittarius as well. Saturn trine your sign is one of the better Saturn aspects you can have. It means the discipline and structure Saturn demands is working with your natural energy rather than against it. If you have been wanting to build something serious this is a month where the effort you put in actually sticks rather than sliding off.
And Uranus in Gemini is opposing Sagittarius, which means disruption is coming from the direction of information, communication, and other people rather than from within. Things you thought were settled keep shifting. People surprise you. Plans change faster than you can adjust to them. For a sign that loves having a vision and pursuing it, this opposition is uncomfortable. The prescription is not to hold the vision more tightly. It is to hold it more loosely and let it change shape as new information arrives.
Sagittarius advice for May: let the Full Moon on the 31st ask its hard question and actually answer it. Use the Jupiter trine to tend to something in your foundations that has been needing attention. Use the Saturn trine to build something that is meant to last rather than something fast and brilliant that burns out. And try, genuinely try, to hold your plans loosely enough that Uranus can improve them rather than just disrupt them.
What all three fire signs have in common this month
Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are all being asked to do something that fire signs find genuinely difficult: wait.
Aries is waiting for Saturn to finish its lesson. Leo is waiting for Jupiter to arrive. Sagittarius is waiting for the Full Moon to show them what they need to see and for Uranus to stop moving the goalposts.
None of these are comfortable positions for signs that are built for momentum and action and the feeling of moving toward something. Fire signs do not like the in-between. They do not like the liminal space between what was and what will be. They want to be in the what will be already.
But May is asking all three of you to be in the in-between with some grace. To use the quieter energy of Taurus season and the early days of Gemini season to prepare rather than push. To let things develop at the pace they need to develop rather than the pace you would prefer.
Here is the thing about fire that I keep coming back to. Fire that burns too fast leaves ash. Fire that is tended carefully, that has something solid to burn and enough air to breathe, that fire sustains itself. It warms people. It lasts through the night.
May is a tending month for fire signs. June will be different. But May is for tending.
See you on the other side of the Full Moon.
