Earth Signs May 2026 — Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn: The Month the Ground Feels Solid Again

Okay Earth Signs. Your Turn.

I want to say something to the earth signs before anything else.

You just came through something. April had a lot of Aries energy — multiple planets piling through a sign that moves fast and breaks things and asks for forgiveness later. For Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn, signs that prefer to build slowly and carefully and on solid ground, that Aries energy probably felt like someone kept rearranging your furniture while you were trying to walk through a dark room.

May is different.

Taurus season is here. Mercury moved into Taurus on May 3rd. Mars moves into Taurus on May 18th. The New Moon was in Taurus on May 16th. The Sun is in Taurus until May 20th when it moves into Gemini. That is a lot of planetary energy coming through an earth sign, and for all three earth signs, that means May has a quality of things finally making sense again. Of being able to think clearly. Of the ground feeling like ground again rather than something that keeps shifting.

I am not going to tell you May is perfect. There is a Mars square Pluto on May 25th that has some intensity in it. And the Full Moon in Sagittarius on May 31st will ask all signs to look honestly at something. But overall, May 2026 is genuinely one of the better months of the year for earth signs, and I think you have earned it.

Here is what is specifically happening for each of you.

TAURUS — This is your season and the planets actually showed up for it

I want to start with something that I think Taurus needs to hear: this is legitimately your month.

Uranus left Taurus on April 25th after seven years. Seven years of the planet of disruption and unexpected change sitting in your sign, shaking things up in areas of your life you would have preferred to keep stable. For Taurus, which more than almost any other sign genuinely values stability and consistency and things staying where you put them, Uranus in your sign since 2018 has been a long and sometimes exhausting test. It asked you to adapt when you wanted to hold firm. To let go when you wanted to keep. To change things you had built carefully and slowly and were not ready to rebuild yet.

It is gone now. And I think for a lot of Taurus placements, May is the first month where that absence is genuinely felt as relief rather than just a theoretical improvement.

Mercury in Taurus from May 3rd slows thinking down in a way that suits you perfectly. You think better at a Taurus pace anyway — deliberate, thorough, not rushing to conclusions. Mercury in Taurus is your mind working at its natural speed rather than the anxious Aries pace of the last few weeks. Decisions made now will actually stick because you have had time to think them through properly.

The New Moon in Taurus on May 16th is the first New Moon in your sign without Uranus also being there since 2018. That is not a small thing. A New Moon in Taurus without Uranus sitting next to it creating static is a genuinely clean beginning. Whatever intention you set around that New Moon has a quality of solidity to it. It is not going to be disrupted from underneath.

Venus, your ruling planet, moved into Gemini on May 14th which takes it out of your sign, but Venus in Gemini makes pleasant social energy available that Taurus can access without it feeling overwhelming. Light conversations, easy connections, the kind of social interactions that fill your cup rather than drain it.

And Mars moves into Taurus on May 18th. Mars in Taurus is not fast. It is not dramatic. It is stubborn, methodical, and extremely good at finishing things. If you have a project that has been half done for longer than you want to admit, Mars in Taurus from the 18th onward is the energy that will finally sit down and complete it. Not because it is exciting. Because it needs to be done and Taurus Mars does not get up until the thing is finished.

The only caution for May is Mars squaring Pluto on May 25th. This is a tense aspect that can bring power struggles, stubborn standoffs, or things feeling more intense than expected. For Taurus, who can dig in hard when challenged, this square is asking you not to turn a disagreement into a war. Pick your battles this last week of May. Not everything is worth the energy it would cost.

Taurus advice for May: this is your season. Use the New Moon to start something real. Let Mercury slow your thinking down into proper Taurus mode. Use Mars from the 18th to finish things that have been waiting. And watch the last week of May for situations where your stubbornness might work against you rather than for you.

VIRGO — The eclipse that shook you in March is starting to make sense

There was a lunar eclipse in Virgo on March 3rd. If your life shifted in February or March in ways that felt sudden or uncomfortable or like something closed before you were ready, that eclipse was probably involved. Eclipses do not ask for your consent. They just close things and open things and leave you sorting out what happened afterward.

May is that afterward. And I want to say something about that process that I think is worth hearing.

The things eclipses close are usually things that were already finished in some deeper sense, even if you had not quite admitted it yet. The relationship that had been draining for a year before it ended. The job that had stopped fitting before you left it. The version of yourself that you had outgrown but were still performing out of habit. Eclipses just make the ending visible. They do not create it.

So if March brought an ending that still feels raw in May, it might be worth asking what was already true before the eclipse made it visible. That question is not always comfortable. But it is usually more useful than just grieving the ending itself.

Mercury in Taurus for the first half of May is good for Virgo. Mercury is your ruling planet, and Taurus is a fellow earth sign, so Mercury in Taurus thinks in a way Virgo can work with — grounded, practical, focused on what actually works rather than what looks good on paper. This is a good stretch for planning, for financial decisions, for sorting out practical matters that need clear thinking rather than speed.

Jupiter in Cancer is making a sextile to Virgo. I wrote about this last month but it is still active and still worth paying attention to. A sextile from Jupiter is an open door. It requires you to walk toward it. The themes Jupiter in Cancer is activating are home, emotional foundations, and the people you consider family in the deepest sense. If there is something you have been wanting to build or stabilize in your home life or your inner sense of security, May has genuine support for that. The door is open. You have to be the one to move toward it.

Uranus in Gemini is making a square to Virgo. Squares from Uranus are disruptive in the specific way of unexpected interruptions. Something you planned carefully keeps getting a variable you did not account for. A situation you thought was settled keeps shifting. For Virgo, who genuinely does their best work when they can research and plan and prepare, Uranus square is deeply annoying. The adaptation it is asking for is real. Virgo is more capable of it than Virgo tends to believe, but it does require letting go of the idea that you can plan your way out of everything.

The Nodes are still on the Pisces-Virgo axis through July, which means there is still karmic work happening in the areas of your chart related to self and service, health and daily routine, giving and receiving. Mercury squaring the lunar nodes on May 19th might bring up something connected to this — a conversation, a decision, something that requires you to choose between what is familiar and what is actually right. Pay attention to what comes up around that date.

Virgo advice for May: let the eclipse work settle rather than rushing past it. Ask the honest question about what was already true before March made things visible. Use Mercury in Taurus for practical planning. Move toward the Jupiter door in your home and foundation. And try to hold your plans loosely enough that Uranus can adjust them rather than just disrupt them.

CAPRICORN — Saturn in Aries is making a trine to you and you should use it

Capricorn is the sign most associated with Saturn, so when I say Saturn in Aries is making a trine to Capricorn placements right now, I want you to understand what that actually means in practice.

Saturn is your ruling planet. You understand Saturn energy better than most signs do. You know how to work with it, how to meet its demands, how to take the long view and do the slow hard work without losing faith that it will pay off eventually. Most signs find Saturn transits difficult. Capricorn finds them clarifying.

A trine from Saturn means that Saturnian energy — discipline, structure, the willingness to do hard things over long timelines — is flowing in a direction that supports you rather than working against you. It is one of the more genuinely useful transits you can have as a Capricorn, because it is essentially your natural way of operating receiving external support from the planet that governs it.

In practical terms: things you build in May have a quality of lasting. Decisions made carefully in May tend to hold. The effort you put in now compounds in a way that effort does not always compound. If you have been wanting to make a serious commitment to something — a project, a discipline, a financial plan, a relationship structure — May is a month where that commitment has real weight behind it.

Jupiter in Cancer is opposing Capricorn right now. Oppositions from Jupiter are not the worst thing — Jupiter is generally beneficial even when it is opposing. But an opposition does mean the energy is coming from outside rather than from within. In the case of Jupiter in Cancer opposite Capricorn, what is being activated is the tension between your professional ambition and your emotional needs. Between building for the future and being present for your actual life right now. Between the external goals you are working toward and the internal security you might be neglecting to tend.

Capricorn can run very hot on the achievement axis and neglect the emotional and relational side of life for years at a time. Jupiter in Cancer opposite your sign is essentially asking: when did you last actually rest? Not strategically rest as recovery for more work. Actually rest. When did you last let someone take care of you instead of the other way around? These are not comfortable questions for Capricorn. They are real ones.

Mercury in Taurus for the first half of May suits Capricorn well — two earth signs, both practical and grounded. Clear thinking, good for financial planning and long-term decisions. Mars moving into Taurus on May 18th adds stamina and follow-through to whatever you are currently building. Taurus Mars does not move fast but it does not stop either, which suits Capricorn’s natural mode.

The Full Moon in Sagittarius on May 31st lands in the area of your chart connected to the bigger picture — philosophy, beliefs, the meaning you attach to what you are working toward. For Capricorn, who can sometimes get so focused on the doing that the why becomes background noise, this Full Moon is asking: why are you building what you are building? Not the practical reason. The real reason. What is it actually for?

Capricorn advice for May: use the Saturn trine to build something with intention. Let it be serious. Let it be for the long term. Answer the Jupiter opposition question about rest and emotional nourishment honestly rather than dismissing it. And use the Full Moon at the end of the month to reconnect with the why behind your work, because that connection tends to make the work itself more sustainable.

What all three earth signs share this month

Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn are all in a period where the ground is more stable than it has been for a while, and stability is what earth signs need in order to do what they do best.

Taurus just had seven years of Uranus disruption lifted. Virgo is processing the end of the eclipse axis that has been active for two years. Capricorn has Saturn making a supportive trine rather than a difficult square. All three of you are in a position in May where the conditions for building something real are better than they have been recently.

The risk for earth signs, always, is using stable conditions to stay still rather than to move. Stability is not an invitation to stop. It is a foundation. You build on foundations. You do not just stand on them admiring how solid they feel.

May is handing all three earth signs a foundation. What you build on it is up to you. But the conditions are genuinely good, and they will not stay exactly this way forever. Uranus will start making squares to earth signs from Gemini in ways that will create new disruption eventually. The eclipse axis will shift to Leo and Aquarius in late July. Jupiter leaves Cancer in June and will not be in that supportive position indefinitely.

Use May. Not frantically. Quietly, deliberately, in the way earth signs build when they are at their best. One solid thing at a time.
