You said yes to the move on a Monday and felt completely sure. By Thursday you felt like a different person living in a different body, and the move made no sense at all. Two weeks later it made sense again. You changed your mind about a relationship three times in one month, and each time you were certain. Friends started calling you indecisive. You started believing them.
If this sounds familiar and your Human Design chart shows you as a Reflector, none of it is a flaw. It is the way you are built. Reflectors have Lunar Authority, which is the slowest and most unusual decision-making process in the whole Human Design system. It follows the cycle of the Moon.
Only around 1 percent of people are Reflectors, which means most Lunar people grow up without a single person around them who works the same way. Nearly all the decision advice they receive is designed for someone else.
You are not changing your mind. You are sampling every version of the decision before you choose one.
What Lunar Authority Is
Every Human Design chart has nine energy centers. In most charts some are defined, meaning they carry consistent energy, and some are open, meaning they take in energy from people and the environment. Reflectors are the only type with all nine centers open. Nothing in their design is fixed.
That openness gives Reflectors an extraordinary sensitivity. They take in the people, places and energies around them and reflect them back, sometimes with surprising accuracy. A Reflector in a healthy workplace can sense the health of the whole team. A Reflector in a toxic one often feels it in her body before anyone else notices a problem.
It also means there is no single inner center that can be trusted for decisions in the moment. There is no Sacral gut response and no emotional wave to wait out. Instead, Reflectors are guided by time, and specifically by the lunar cycle.
Why the Moon
The Moon moves faster than any other body tracked in a Human Design chart. In about 28 days, it passes through all 64 gates of the body graph. As it moves, it temporarily activates different parts of a Reflector’s design, so each day she experiences herself slightly differently. One week she feels confident and outgoing. The next she feels private and inward. Neither is fake. Both are her.
This is why a Reflector’s view of a decision shifts so much across a month. On each day she is looking at the choice through a different lens. Deciding on day three means deciding with one lens only. Waiting for the full cycle means she has seen the choice from every angle her design can offer.
The guidance for Lunar Authority is therefore simple to say and hard to live: for major decisions, wait about 28 days, one full lunar cycle, before committing.
What Waiting a Full Cycle Actually Looks Like
Waiting a month does not mean ignoring the decision for a month. It means living with it. Carry the question with you. Notice how it feels on different days. Pay attention to what changes and, more importantly, what stays.
Many Reflectors keep a simple journal during this time, writing a line or two each day about how the decision feels. By the end of the cycle a pattern usually appears. Maybe the move felt exciting on some days and frightening on others, but every single day there was a quiet sense that the new city felt more like home. That consistency across the cycle is the clarity.
Some Reflectors also track the Moon itself, noting where it is in the sky or in their chart on the day the decision first came up, and watching for it to return to that point. Others simply count roughly four weeks. Both approaches work. What matters is giving yourself the full cycle.
Clarity for a Reflector is not a feeling that arrives on one special day. It is the thing that stayed true on every day.
Talking It Through Is Part of the Process
This is the part many Reflectors are surprised by. Lunar Authority is not meant to happen alone in silence. Talking is a big part of it.
Because Reflectors take in and reflect their environment, speaking out loud to trusted people helps them hear themselves. The other person is not there to give advice. They are there as a sounding board. Often a Reflector will say something in conversation and suddenly realize that is what she really thinks. The words come out, and she recognizes them.
Choose these people carefully. A friend who pushes her own opinion or needs you to decide quickly will muddy the process. The best sounding boards listen more than they speak, and they are comfortable with you taking your time.
Your Environment Is Everything
For Reflectors, the place they live and the people they spend time with shape their experience more than for any other type. If the environment is wrong, the Reflector feels wrong, and it becomes almost impossible to make good decisions.
This is why one of the most important Lunar decisions is often where to live and who to work with. A Reflector who feels chronically drained or disappointed may not have a personal problem at all. She may simply be in the wrong place, reflecting back a room full of stress.
In Human Design, disappointment is described as the signal that a Reflector is out of alignment, and surprise or delight is the sign she is on track. If you are a Reflector and you have felt disappointed for a long time, it is worth asking honestly whether the environment is the real source.
Living With Lunar Authority in a Fast World
The world does not like to wait a month. Job offers come with deadlines. Partners want commitment. Landlords want an answer by Friday. Reflectors often feel enormous pressure to decide faster than their design allows.
It helps to separate decisions by size. Not every choice needs a full lunar cycle. What to eat, which film to watch, whether to go for a walk: these can follow your mood of the day. The 28-day rule is for the big ones, the decisions that shape your life for years.
For the big ones, learn to ask for time without apologizing. “I need a few weeks to feel this out” is a complete answer. When a person or opportunity absolutely cannot wait, that is often information in itself. Things that are truly right for a Reflector tend to have room for her timing.
What Changes When You Honor It
Reflectors who begin living by their Lunar Authority often describe a deep relief. The old story that they are flaky or unable to commit starts to fall away. They see that their shifting was never random. It followed a rhythm, and the rhythm was trying to protect them.
Their decisions also start to hold up better over time. A choice that survived an entire month of different moods, conversations and perspectives is usually a choice that fits.
Signs You Are Living Against Your Lunar Authority
Many Reflectors don’t find out about their design until they’ve spent years deciding like everyone else. Certain patterns tend to show up when that happens.
You make big decisions quickly because people expect it, and then spend months regretting them. You feel like a different person from week to week and assume something is wrong with you. You feel strongly drawn to certain places or people, then drained by them later, without understanding why. And you carry a quiet, persistent disappointment that life doesn’t feel like it fits.
None of these mean you are broken. They usually mean you have been making decisions on a single day of your cycle instead of across the whole month, often in environments that were never right for you.
Lunar Authority in Love
Love is one of the areas where Lunar Authority matters most, and where the pressure to decide quickly is strongest. A new relationship can feel perfect in the first week and confusing by the third. For most people that confusion is a warning sign. For a Reflector it may just be the Moon moving through a different part of her chart.
This is why Reflectors do best in relationships that allow slow commitment. A partner who respects your timing, doesn’t rush labels and is happy to let you feel the connection across several cycles is usually a very good sign in itself. A partner who pressures you for fast answers may simply not be built to understand how you work.
Reflectors also tend to feel their partner’s energy very strongly, since they reflect the people closest to them. It’s worth noticing how you feel about yourself around this person across a full month. If you consistently feel more like yourself, that’s valuable. If you consistently feel smaller, pay attention to that too.
You were never indecisive. You were designed to look at life from every side before you choose. The Moon is not slowing you down. It is showing you the whole picture.
