Are You a Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte or Miranda? What Your Zodiac Sign Actually Says

Four women. Four completely different ways of being a person in the world. The zodiac already knows which one you are.

I rewatched Sex and the City recently and could not stop doing the thing I always do.

Assigning zodiac signs to everything.

The show works because the four main characters are not just different personalities. They are four genuinely distinct ways of moving through the world. Four different relationships with love, ambition, vulnerability, and what it means to build a life that is actually yours. And those four ways map onto specific signs with a precision that kept making me put down my phone and stare at the ceiling.

Here is what I came up with. Including Sagittarius, which has its own very specific energy in this group that I want to talk about separately.

The Carrie Signs — Gemini, Libra, Pisces

Carrie is the most complicated assignment because she is not one energy. She is a writer who lives in her head. A romantic who leads with feeling. A social creature who needs connection to feel alive. And she is deeply contradictory in ways she writes about beautifully and lives through somewhat messily.

Gemini is the first Carrie sign. The curious perpetually-in-motion quality of her thinking is Gemini at its core. She processes her life by writing about it. She cannot fully understand what she feels until she has turned it into words. She is inconsistent in ways that frustrate the people around her and charming enough that people forgive her for it anyway. The intellectual restlessness. The need to narrate. The relationship with ideas that is as important as the relationship with people.

Libra is the second Carrie sign. The way she moves through relationships — always weighing, always finding the beautiful version of a complicated situation — is deeply Libra. She stays with Big past all reasonable evidence that she should leave because she can always find the elegant argument for staying. The shoes are Libra. The apartment is Libra. The way she dresses a Tuesday like it is an event is Libra.

Pisces is the third Carrie sign. The dreamy romantic who believes in the story before it has proven itself. Who loves someone more for who they could be than who they are right now. Carrie at her most vulnerable — waiting for Big, writing in the dark, believing in something that keeps not quite arriving — is Pisces in its most recognisable form.

The Samantha Signs — Aries, Leo, Scorpio

Samantha gets reduced to one thing constantly and is in fact several very specific things at once.

Aries is the first Samantha sign. The directness. The complete absence of self-consciousness about going after what she wants. Aries does not perform confidence. Aries just has it. It is not something Samantha worked toward. It is where she started from. That is the most important distinction.

Leo is the second Samantha sign. The warmth, the generosity, the genuine love for her people. Samantha is not just confident she is also deeply loyal. Her friendship is one of the most consistent and generous things in the show. She shows up. She celebrates the people she loves. She makes every occasion feel significant. The love she has for Carrie and Charlotte and Miranda is not complicated or conditional. It is enormous and it is just there.

Scorpio is the third Samantha sign. The power that other people find intimidating. The specific quality of her survival. The cancer storyline. The way she goes through things that should break people and comes out the other side with a different quality of understanding. Scorpio transforms. Samantha at her deepest is Scorpio.

The Charlotte Signs — Taurus, Cancer, Virgo

Charlotte is the character people underestimate most consistently and she is quietly one of the fiercest people in the show.

Taurus is the first Charlotte sign. She knows what she wants and she has always known. A love match. A family. A beautiful home. A life that has warmth and intention in every detail. The unwillingness to settle for less than the real thing. The patience to wait for it even when everything around her is telling her to lower her expectations. Charlotte’s apartment, Charlotte’s clothes, Charlotte’s table settings — that is Taurus expressing its values through physical reality.

Cancer is the second Charlotte sign. The protectiveness. The way she loves. The maternal instinct that exists long before she has children and shows up in how she treats her friends. She makes sure everyone has eaten. She notices when someone is not okay before they have said so. She creates the feeling of home wherever she is.

Virgo is the third Charlotte sign. This surprises people but it is accurate. Charlotte has standards. Specific, considered, non-negotiable standards she applies to herself first. She is also self-critical in the specific Virgo way. The internal running commentary on whether she is doing everything correctly. Her growth across the series is a Virgo growth story. Learning to receive rather than just give. Learning that good enough actually is.

The Miranda Signs — Capricorn, Aquarius

Miranda is the character most people either relate to completely or find difficult and there is almost no middle ground. She is the most honest person in the show and honesty is not always comfortable to be around.

Capricorn is the first Miranda sign. The ambition. The work ethic. The belief that competence and preparation and showing up properly are non-negotiable. Miranda does not coast. She does not rely on charm or luck or the kindness of people who find her likeable. She builds. She works. She earns. The career trajectory of her character across the series is a Capricorn story told precisely.

Aquarius is the second Miranda sign. The scepticism about convention. The way she questions the structures other characters accept without examination. She is the one who asks why out loud when everyone else is just complying. Her resistance to the conventional life narrative is Aquarius. Not because she ends up outside that narrative but because she enters it on her own terms after examining it honestly. The emotional detachment that looks like coldness but is actually a different mode of caring entirely.

Sagittarius — The One Nobody Talks About

Here is where I want to spend a moment because Sagittarius does not fit neatly into the four main characters and I think that is actually the most Sagittarius thing about this exercise.

Sagittarius is present in the show but not as a lead character. It shows up in the edges. In the relationships the women have with the men who cannot commit. In the city itself. In the version of each character that exists on her best night when everything is funny and the whole world feels possible and nobody is ready to go home yet.

But if I had to assign Sagittarius to one character energy it would be a specific version of Samantha. Not the power Samantha or the loyal Samantha. The free one. The one who genuinely does not understand why you would limit yourself before you have to. The one who cannot be contained by a category or a relationship or an expectation and is completely honest about that in a way that other signs find either refreshing or maddening.

Sagittarius in Sex and the City is the one at the party who somehow makes everyone feel like they are having the best night of their lives. The one who suggests the thing nobody else would suggest and it turns out to be exactly right. The one who is already thinking about the next adventure before this one has finished.

If you are a Sagittarius watching the show you have probably felt most seen in the moments when the characters are most free. When New York feels infinite and the night is young and none of the complications have arrived yet. That feeling is the Sagittarius version of this whole world.

The question that matters

There is a version of this that is a quiz where you find out which character you are. I am not very interested in that version.

What I find more interesting is the question underneath it. Not which character are you but which energy do you recognise most in yourself when you are being most honestly yourself.

Because Carrie is not just the romantic one and Samantha is not just the sexual one and Charlotte is not just the traditional one and Miranda is not just the career one. Each of them is a full and specific way of being a woman in the world. Each of those ways has its own intelligence and its own cost.

Which one did you read and think yes that is me?

That one is yours.
